3D Limit Equilibrium Analysis for Slopes
- Dams & Embankments
- Retaining Walls
- Open-pit Mining
- Rock & Soil Slopes
Slide3 contains features such as rapid drawdown, complex pore pressure distributions, many non-linear material models, and unsaturated strength, that make it suitable for the modeling of dams and embankments. It has been used extensively on both hydroelectric and tailings dams. The ability to easily link to RS3’s powerful steady-state and transient groundwater analyses means it can account for any possible pore pressure conditions.

Slide3’s extensive support library makes it easy to model retaining walls. Support can be defined individually or through user-defined support patterns. Geogrids can also be easily added to a model using an Excel import facility. This allows for hundreds of individual geogrids to easily be defined.

Slide3’s ability to import surface, point cloud, and block model data make it extremely easy to construct open-pit slope models. Built-in display of radar displacement data, in conjunction with surface safety maps, make it a comprehensive tool for monitoring and calibrating pit wall stability problems.
Tutorial: Open-pit Mining
Slide3’s design was engineered to be equally applicable to both rock and soil slopes. It has a complete material library of both rock (Mohr-Coulomb, Generalized Hoek-Brown, Barton Bandis, Anisotropic etc.) and soil (Mohr-Coulomb, SHANSEP, Vertical stress ratio, Power Curve, Shear-Normal, etc.) material models. Slide3’s large support library is also applicable to both rock and soil.

Slide3 has an integrated system for defining one or many Slide2 sections along a user-defined path. Slide3 can then directly export these sections to Slide2 for computation. Results from the 2D analysis are then brought back into Slide3 to view in conjunction with the 3D results.
Slide3 and RS3 are built on the same underlying geometry interface platform, making model transfer between the two programs seamless. RS3 models are automatically built from Slide3 models, making 3D Shear Strength Reduction analyses and comparison between limit-equilibrium and finite-element results extremely easy.

Multi-Modal Optimization
Get more insight into your models by searching for more than one critical failure surface. With MMO you can seek out the top three most critical failure surfaces at once and consider them in your analysis.
-
Block Models
As a highly requested feature, importing Block Models from your point cloud data is easier than ever with the ability to import data from programs like Leapfrog, Deswik, Datamine, and Vulcan.

Surface Altering Optimization
This local optimization algorithm, exclusive to Rocscience software, runs on the critical failure surface after the initial global search and is the final push to find the lowest factor of safety by modifying the geometry iteratively.
