Rocscience User Group Meet Kazakhstan, 2024

Rocscience hosted its inaugural user-group meeting in Almaty, Kazakhstan in October 2024. This exclusive, invite-only event was designed to unite Rocscience users from across the region for a unique opportunity to share experiences, insights, and research related to Rocscience tools.  The event featured Rocscience's Leadership Team participation, including Dr. Thamer Yacoub, CEO and President of Rocscience, and Dr. Reginald Hammah, Chief Scientific Officer of Rocscience, who were on hand to engage with attendees and provide valuable insights.

Event Highlights

Objectives of the meet-up

  • Community Building: We aimed to create a platform for our users in Kazakhstan and surrounding regions to connect, share experiences, and build a supportive community.
  • Feedback for Development: We wanted to gather valuable insights from our users to understand their pain points and wishlist items, which will guide future product development and improvements.
  • Knowledge Sharing: We wanted to promote the exchange of ideas and solutions that can drive better outcomes in geotechnical projects across the region.

Event highlights

  • User Experience Sharing: Participants shared their experiences of using Rocscience tools for various applications. This meet-up aimed to foster a collaborative environment where users could learn from each other and discuss best practices.
  • Research Paper Presentations: Attendees were encouraged to present research papers highlighting how Rocscience tools have benefited their projects. This was a chance to showcase innovative applications and contribute to the collective knowledge base.
  • Expert Insights: The event featured Rocscience representatives from IDM Service, with Dr. Thamer Yacoub (CEO and President of Rocscience) and Dr. Reginald Hammah (Chief Scientific Officer of Rocscience) in attendance. Their presence underscored the importance of this meeting and provided a unique opportunity to engage with Rocscience's leadership.
  • Technical Course: Following the user-group meeting, there was be a four-day technical course on "Modelling of Surface and Underground Mine Excavation." This intensive course was designed to deepen your understanding and enhance your skills in using Rocscience tools for complex geotechnical modeling.

As part of the User Group Meet, the 1-day event was followed by a four-day technical course on Modeling of Surface and Underground Mine Excavations from October 30 - November 2, 2024.
